LABOR WILL UPGRADE BELMONT’S CAHILL OVAL

March 21, 2022

An Albanese Labor Government will invest $184,000 in a much-needed upgrade to the facilities at Belmont’s Cahill Oval.

The current facilities are outdated and inadequate for the growing number of people playing rugby league, particularly women.

This funding to upgrade the amenities block will support increased participation for men and women of all ages.

Cahill Oval is the home of the Lakes United Seagulls Rugby League Football Club which is affiliated with the Valentine-Eleebana Junior Rugby League Football Club, Belmont North Junior Rugby League Football Club, Swansea Caves Junior Rugby League Football Club, and Windale Junior Rugby League Football Club.

Lakes has a proud history of competing in the real NRL and has produced Kangaroos Paul Harragon, Josh Jackson, Brett Kimmorley, Adam Muir, Robbie Ross, and Allan Thomson.

In addition to supporting local players, the upgrade will also open opportunities for Cahill Oval to host state-wide school events like the All Schools Carnival and Ladies League Tag State Carnival, as well as larger club rugby league events.

This will bring more people to our region and stimulate our local economy.

An Albanese Labor Government is committed to supporting local sporting facilities like Cahill Oval.
