Federal Labor offers its condolences to the people of Tonga on the passing of Tongan Prime Minister Mr Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva this week.
It is a sad occasion for the people of Tonga and, I am sure, the Tongan community here in Australia as well.
Our thoughts are with them.
Mr Pohiva was a tireless advocate for government reform and a passionate supporter of the Pacific’s interests on climate change.
He was also good friend to Australia.
May he rest in peace.
