Volunteer organisations are invited to apply for grants of up to $5,000 under the Shortland Volunteer Grants Program.
Organisations can apply for between $1,000 and $5,000 to help buy equipment such as laptops, pay fuel costs, or assist with volunteer training costs.
It is expected 15 to 20 community organisations will share in the $66,000 Shortland Volunteer Grants Program 2019-20.
“Our community relies on volunteer organisations and volunteering is an important part of many people’s lives,” Mr Conroy said.
“It is a proven pathway into jobs, reduces marginalisation and increases community participation.
“And we know that every little bit of funding counts, so I would encourage organisations to register their interest as soon as possible.”
Applications for funding will close on January 28 and information is available on my website www.patconroy.com.au or by phoning 4947 9546. (My office will be closed from December 23 to January 6 but phone messages and emails will be checked regularly).
