Share the Dignity’s “It’s In The Bag” campaign is an important Christmas charity drive to help women experiencing disadvantage.
The Belmont office of Member for Shortland Pat Conroy will be a collection point for the charity again this year.
Share the Dignity “It’s In The Bag” encourages everyone to fill a handbag (new or pre-loved in good condition) with personal and sanitary supplies for women who may be homeless, fleeing domestic violence or experiencing disadvantage.
“The people of Shortland have been very generous for the past two years, and I hope they will again this year,” Mr Conroy said.
“We even had a newlywed couple who asked their wedding guests to donate to Share the Dignity rather than buy them gifts, which was a remarkably thoughtful and heart-warming gesture.
“We have pockets in Shortland where one in four women is living in economic disadvantage and a gift such as this can make a real difference.”
Handbags with personal and sanitary supplies for women, teenage girls, and new mothers, can be donated to Share the Dignity “It’s In The Bag” at the office of Pat Conroy, 571 Pacific Highway, Belmont, during office hours until December 6.
