Today I am announcing that eight local schools will benefit from a share of $32 million in grants to upgrade school infrastructure and equipment.

The following local schools in the Shortland electorate will benefit from funding:

  • CARDIFF HIGH SCHOOL - $25,000 to build new outdoor learning spaces.
  • CHARLESTOWN PUBLIC SCHOOL - $25,000 to refurbish classrooms.
  • GARDEN SUBURB PUBLIC SCHOOL - $25,000 to purchase and install air-conditioning and purchasing/upgrading ICT equipment.
  • NORTHLAKES PUBLIC SCHOOL - $21,400 to refurbish classrooms.
  • NORTHLAKES HIGH SCHOOL - $25,000 to build new outdoor learning spaces.
  • ST KEVIN’S PRIMARY SCHOOL - $25,000 to build new outdoor learning spaces.
  • ST PATRICK’S PRIMARY SCHOOL - $25,000 to build new outdoor learning spaces.
  • ST PIUS X PRIMARY SCHOOL - $15,000 to build new outdoor learning spaces.

The funding is part of a $250 million commitment to improve school infrastructure.

All schools across the country were invited to apply for the funding and projects were assessed by the Department of Education and selected based on need.

Schools were able to apply for grants of up to $25,000 to support much needed improvements to facilities and learning environments.

The Albanese Labor Government is delivering on our promise to invest in our schools and there is more to come.
