Member for Shortland Pat Conroy today announced a Federal Labor Government will provide $192,000 to eight of the most disadvantaged schools in Shortland for special projects including outdoor play and learning areas and digital resources.
The project funding comes on top of the extra $20.11million that 45 public schools in Shortland will receive for teaching and learning in the first three years of a Federal Labor Government.

“I am pleased Labor is supporting all schools with teaching and learning resources, but it’s particularly important to support our most disadvantaged schools with specialist projects they would not otherwise be able to provide for their students,” Mr Conroy said.
“Outdoor learning areas and exercise equipment are important for students’ physical and mental health, and digital resources improve learning and equip students with vital skills needed for the modern workforce.”
Labor will invest an extra $14 billion into Australia’s public schools to give all children the opportunity to reach their full potential, no matter where they live, or how much their parents earn.
The extra funding will mean more individual attention for students, and more help with the basics such as reading, writing, maths and science.
