Australia is one of the only advanced economies in the world without a Standard, meaning Australian families are paying more money than they should at the bowser.
The Albanese Government’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standard will push car makers to give Australian motorists more choices of new cars, utes and vans that use less fuel and that have until now only been available to buyers in overseas markets.
The proposed Standard has been developed to strike the right balance in giving Australians more choice while using less fuel. By catching up with standards in the United States by around 2028, residents in the Shortland electorate could save almost $1,200 per year on their annual fuel bill.
