SHORTLAND VOLUNTEER GRANTS

Expressions of Interest are now open!

The Volunteer Grants Program supports community volunteer groups who benefit our local area. 

The program intends to encourage and support participation in local projects by helping volunteers advance local community participation in a wide range of beneficial programs. The grant aims to assist local groups with some of the costs associated with taking on volunteers, to encourage further recruitment and participation of members of the community.

Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available to help community organisations to support the efforts of volunteers.

The grants can be used for a variety of different projects including new items and services:

  • Costs of insurance, internet usage fees and phone bills for volunteer organisations
  • Purchase mobile phones and radio communication devices
  • Computers, laptops, and tablets, where those items are primarily used for online communications and activity
  • Software, where the software is primarily used for or to facilitate online communications and activity (e.g. email or videoconferencing software)
  • Small equipment for volunteers.
  • Fuel costs for volunteers, during the course of their volunteer work.
  • Transport costs for volunteers
  • Fees for training courses.
  • Background check fees for volunteers.
  • Activities to promote awareness and increase volunteering opportunities.

EOI’S NEEDED TO BE RECEIVED BY THE ELECTORATE OFFICE NO LATER THAN 5:00PM FRIDAY 17 JANUARY 2024. EOI’S RECEIVED AFTER THIS DATE WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

If you are successful in being nominated for this grant, you will be contacted Monday 20 January 2024 and invited to submit a formal application which will be forwarded to you.
